Sober Victory 1.1.0 and forthcoming analytics update · Last updated: 11 October 2026

For help with the app, email info@sobervictory.life. Include your app version, whether you use iPhone, Android, or a browser, and what happened. Please do not send your progress backup, sobriety date, or private reflections unless you choose to share them.

Set or correct your start date

On Home, tap “Set your start date” or the displayed “Started” date. Choose the date and time, then confirm it. The timer uses your device’s local time. If saving fails, your previous saved date stays selected; try again when the device’s storage is available.

Daily reminders

  1. Open Settings and choose your reminder time under Daily Encouragement.
  2. Turn on Daily reminder and allow notifications when your device asks. Reminders use a generic title and message.
  3. To stop them, turn Daily reminder off. You can also turn off notifications for Sober Victory in your device settings.

If permission was denied, enable notifications for Sober Victory in your device settings, reopen the app, and try turning the reminder on again. Focus, Do Not Disturb, battery restrictions, and notification settings can affect delivery. Reminders use local device time and do not require an internet connection. Daily reminders are unavailable in the browser.

Restore turns reminders off. If a reset or reminder cancellation shows an error, retry the action; device notification settings can stop delivery while you resolve it.

Home Screen widget

In Sober Victory 1.1 on iPhone and iPad, touch and hold an empty area on your Home Screen. Tap +, or choose Edit, then Add Widget. Search for Sober Victory and choose the small or medium Your Journey widget.

The widget shows your days and recorded victories. Tap it to open Home. If its progress needs refreshing, open the app; iOS controls when widget updates appear. Your reflections stay inside the app. To remove a widget, touch and hold it and choose Remove Widget. Removing the widget keeps your progress.

Back up your progress

  1. Open Settings → Export Progress.
  2. On iPhone, choose Save to Files and select a private location, such as your own iCloud Drive folder. On Android, choose a private file destination from the share sheet. In a browser, keep the downloaded JSON file in a private folder.
  3. Check that the file is present before deleting the app, resetting data, or changing devices.

The JSON backup is plaintext and includes your date, victories, favorites, and reflections. Anyone with the file can read them. Do not put it in a public folder or share it unintentionally. The app does not automatically back up or sync progress to its service.

Restore a backup

  1. Export your current progress first if you want to keep a copy.
  2. Open Settings → Import Progress and choose a Sober Victory JSON backup smaller than 1 MB.
  3. Review the displayed date and counts. Select Restore this backup only if you want to replace current local progress, or Cancel to keep it.

Restore keeps your current sharing and analytics preferences and turns daily reminders off. Authentication and sharing preferences are not transferred from the backup. A rejected or invalid file does not replace your progress. If the app reports a restore failure, retry and check the reminder setting.

Using the app offline

Your timer, bundled scriptures, breathing exercise, local victory history, favorites, and reflections work offline. The community Victory Wall and optional sharing require an internet connection. A community error does not undo a victory that was saved locally. If sharing fails, use Retry when offered; turning sharing off keeps future victories local.

Community posts are limited to one new post per anonymous identity every five minutes. The public wall displays recent posts from the last 24 hours. Older posts leaving the wall does not remove your own local victory history.

Missing or lost progress

Progress is stored on this device or in this browser, with no service copy of your date, personal history, favorites, or reflections. A different browser profile, private browsing, cleared site data, an app reset, or an uninstall can make local progress unavailable. Check the device or browser you originally used and restore a progress backup if you have one.

If Home or History says progress could not be loaded, try its retry control before resetting anything. If you have no accessible local copy or exported backup, support cannot reconstruct your private progress from the community wall.

App-usage analytics

This optional setting is being prepared for a future app update and is not in the submitted 1.1.0 build. In versions that include it, open Settings → Help improve Sober Victory and turn Share app activity on. It starts off. It helps count active installations each UTC day and month without sending your date, victories, reflections, region, or scripture choices.

To stop reports and delete this installation’s retained analytics, turn Share app activity off. If you are offline, deletion waits until a connection is available; the app keeps analytics off while it retries. Analytics cannot be enabled again until the previous deletion is complete. Reset All Data also turns it off and queues deletion. Community account deletion is separate.

Analytics consent and installation credentials are excluded from progress exports and are not copied by restoring a backup. Restoring progress preserves the analytics choice already saved on this installation. Analytics records expire after 90 days; reports exclude expired records even while background cleanup is pending.

Reset and privacy choices

Settings → Reset Victory Count clears your local victory count and history. Reset All Data also turns analytics off, queues deletion of retained analytics for this installation, clears local progress and preferences, and attempts to stop reminders. Both ask for confirmation. These actions do not remove exported backup files or information already held by the community service.

To remove your existing community account and its associated public posts and private posting records, open Settings → Delete Community Account and confirm. Connect to the internet first. This action turns sharing off and keeps your local progress. If deletion fails, retry; it does not create a new account. Enabling sharing and posting again after a completed deletion can create a new anonymous account.
